YOUR ROLE IN OUR TEAM
The Purchasing and Material Control Manager plays a crucial role in establishing the supply structure for raw materials in the plant. This person is responsible for ensuring the procurement of products at fair prices and within specified timelines by engaging with various approved suppliers. As a key participant in the process, the Purchasing and Material Control Manager must excel in communication to foster positive relationships with both internal and external partners. They are accountable for overseeing delivery schedules and maintaining accurate inventory control.
THE CHALLENGES WE HAVE FOR YOU

Participate in the development of a coherent and efficient supply structure, propose changes when necessary, and contribute to its evolution over time.

Analyze the needs of different production machines and place purchase orders with suppliers according to established requirements.

Ensure clear and effective two-way communication with internal and external customers to identify issues and needs.

Monitor orders and propose alternative solutions in case of deviations from the original plan.
-
Ensure compliance with specifications and commercial agreements with suppliers.
-
Prepare and submit requests for new materials.
-
Create and follow up on “pick-up” requests with logistics.
-
Update prices, supplier files, contacts, and related data in the MRP (AS400) and other tracking tools. This includes creating tracking tools and implementing systems to improve processes.

Monitor raw material inventories and adjust minimum and maximum levels as needed.

Maintain accurate inventory control through precise data entry, adjustments, and analysis.

Build and maintain strong business relationships with internal and external customers (including suppliers).

Develop expertise in inventory management and maintain in-depth knowledge of stock ranges.

Conduct annual supplier evaluations (audits).

Perform all administrative tasks during the absence of the Administrative Assistant, including:

Greeting customers and truck drivers.
-
Answering calls, managing messages, transferring calls, and coordinating pick-up schedules.

Scheduling appointments.
-
Coordinating daily orders.
-
Organizing and archiving documents and accounting records.
-
Managing the shipping label printer and the printing/distribution of shipping labels.

Directing trucks waiting in line for loading or shipping.
-
Verifying that outbound staged materials match the correct sub-reference/code.

Performing cycle counts of inventory items.

Coordinate the work of the Administrative Assistant, oversee performance assessments, and provide support for various tasks.

Plan and supervise workloads.
-
Establish and monitor Key Process Indicators (KPIs) related to raw materials and finished goods.

Perform any other related tasks as required.
THE SKILLS WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Education :
-
DEC or bachelor’s degree in business administration, supply chain and logistics, GOP, or a related field.

3 to 6 years of experience in procurement, including 1 to 3 years in an industrial environment.
Knowledge and Competencies :

Excellent written and spoken English; French is considered an asset.

Knowledge of supply management tools (Master Plan, Min-Max, BO, etc.).

Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel.

Knowledge of and ability to learn IT tools such as ERP, MRP, and WMS.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Standard schedule: 40 hours per week. Participation in certain activities with suppliers may occasionally occur in the evenings, on weekends, or on holidays.

Occasional travel within Canada and the United States. Visits to Soprema facilities and suppliers across North America (a valid passport is required).
