SOPREMA is looking for an engineering project manager. Under the supervision of the head of engineering, the engineering project manager is responsible for the planning, estimation and execution of capex projects across North America (Canada-US)
At the beginning, the project manager will be involved in the installation and start-up phase of three factories in the Woodstock area. This will allow the candidate to learn the different technologies and support the projects. This phase will happen over 12-18 months.
The successful candidate will be highly motivated and have a strong level of leadership.

- Plan, manage and support a wide range of Capex projects in the various plants across North America, including process, packaging, building, utilities and automation.
- Elaborate preliminary and detailed concepts, layouts and options.
- Coordinate and oversee the execution of projects, including supervision of various subcontractors.
- Be available at times to work outside of regular working hours.
- Define equipment specifications, elaborate requests for quotes, select equipment and negotiate the contracts.
- Prepare budget estimates in close collaboration with other departments (operations and maintenance).
- Ensure a rigorous management of the allocated budget and communicate progress on a regular basis.
- Establish, monitor and follow project schedules.
- Communicate progress to the stakeholders, manage problems and proposed solutions.
- Actively participate in the construction and start-up of new production lines and new plants.
- Act as a technical reference, and resource for manufacturing sites.
- Enforce Soprema’s health and safety standards and norms applicable on all projects under its supervision.

Your Education
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or chemical engineering, or equivalent training.
- Active membership (PEO), Professional Engineers of Ontario
Your Knowledge
- 7 to 12 years of relevant experience in project management.
- Experience in chemical processes and the construction industry (an asset).
- Knowledge of mechanical design.
- Basic knowledge of automated systems, instrumentation and control/programming logic (an asset).
- Knowledge of AutoCAD and the Office suite, including Microsoft Project.
- Ability to communicate in English (orally and in writing), french an asset.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Have a car and a valid driver’s license.
- Willing to travel in North America (30 to 50%) as needed and flexibility to work in atypical schedule.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Work in an industrial environment.
- Good physical condition is required to supervise plant installations, go up and down stairs, ladders, carry boxes, stand for long periods of time and be able to wear the required personal protective equipment (work shoes or boots, glasses, safety helmet, vest, and other required equipment).
